Too many people are after my job in NIMASA – Jamoh cries out

Accuses rivals of smear campaign

The Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has given an insight into the barrage of allegations against him in recent times in some sections of the media.

Jamoh, currently attending a conference in Ghana, expressed frustration with the persistent allegations, which include financial impropriety and nepotism, attributing these attacks to individuals seeking his position.

The NIMASA DG, while declaring that he was tired of hearing the barrage of allegations which has become a pastime for his distractors, also cited his close ties to former President Muhammadu Buhari as a point of contention. Recall that Jamoh is married to Buharis niece, and his daughter is married to Buharis nephew.

Dr. Jamoh vehemently denied all corruption claims and called for journalists to investigate the accusations.

The NIMASA Boss also defended the Agency’s budget, stating that it is aligned with its needs and priorities, while emphasising that agency budgets are approved by the National Assembly. He also highlighted the successful deployment of the Deep Blue Project, which has led to reduced piracy incidents.

Despite facing these allegations, Jamoh refrained from personally responding, urging journalists to delve into the matter.

Jamoh insisted that he was not ready to join issues with his detractors, noting that he deliberately declined approval of all statements written by the agencys Public Relations Department in reaction to some of the allegations.
